Interesting Fact: There has been much discussion about how this stone, how it was created, where it originated from, if it should be considered a gem or simply glass. There are stories passed down about how alchemist monks were attempting to make gold and in the process and accidentally knocked some of the shavings into a pot of molten glass...hence to variations of how it came about its name or monk's gold.
