Carnelian (also spelled Cornelian) is a semi-precious gemstone with colors that range from brownish-red to pale-pinkish orange and a glassy, translucent orange. It is the colors of the autumn harvest.
Interesting Fact: Egyptians considered the lighter orange Carnelian stone to be blessed with feminine energy and linked to fertility while the dark orange and reddish Carnelian stones were considered the masculine stone. Warriors would string Carnelian around their necks to give them a fighting spirit and courage.
It was also used as a preventative against the Plaque and believed to bring out longevity of life. Carnelian is found on the shores of Brazil, India, Egypt and the Amazon.
